UNIT 3 The Mind-Body Connection

1.    My reflection on my well-being can be rated as a 7 because I am not comfortable with my weight. When I turn 52 I started being more concern what I eat, how much I eat and what can I do to improve my eating habits. My physical well-being teaches me I need to exercises more to maintain my physical structure of my body. When I have the time to exercise I feel better and I have more physical energy. My spiritual well-being allows me to have those moments with my God who I believe as my Savior. When I spend time praying to God. This allows me to have my personal conversation with him to help me to solve my problems and to clear my mind from the outside world. The daily reading of God’s words allow me to connect with my spiritual needs which keeps me balance and focus on God who keeps my mind regulated to stay focus without confusion.

to me.

Ø go camping in a camper
Ø walks in the park with my husband
Ø go dancing
Ø enjoy a movie once a week
Ø take up piano lesson for fun
Ø take up swimming lesson
3a  The exercises I like to put into my goal plans:
Ø go dancing
Ø enter a dance exercise class
Ø enter yoga classes
Ø do daily stretches
Ø go bicycle riding on weekends
4.  The personal experience I had listening to “The Crime of the Century” relaxation exercise was wonder. I totally became so relax as I started the breathing pattern exercise. I could feel my body melting into the chair while the gentleman was talking. I had a hard time trying to visualize the images he wanted me to see while my eyes were closed. I could not stay focus and the more I try to focus on what he want me to visualize the more I became frustrated and tense. So I stop trying to visualize what he wanted me to see and just listen to the calmness of his voice and the frustration went away. When the recording finish I woke up refresh with a lot of energy I felt like I slept for 8 hours

  1. It is usually difficult to fully get into a new meditation the first time you do it. Try it again and let me know how it changed for you. I am curious. :) And the refreshed 8 hour feeling... wait until you do an 8 hour meditation. OMG it is great!!! :D

You have a lot of good goals written down. For yourself. I too like a lot of the same things you do. It is fun to see that we have things in common. I recommend you pick one of the goals you want to start, like a swimming lesson, and do it this week. Go down to the YMCA and take an adult swimming course. They are really fun. I use to teach them. ;)

I look forward to reading your other postings.

  2. Wow, you have a lot of great goals! I hope that you are able to work on them. I have found myself feeling so blah lately, i have been eating WAY too much junk food and fast food. I have recently had a lot of friends doing the 10 day juice fast, I think I may try it! You juice fresh veggies and fruit for your 3 meals for 10 days. Everyone that I know that has done it has felt amazing, and they lost weight while doing it. I'm not doing it to loose weight, but hey if I do, great!

The first time I started to do the meditation excersize, I was the same way. After about 5 min, I restarted it and allowed myself to relaxe. And I do have to say that I felt great after it was done! I need to do this more often to just clear my mind and take time for myself.
